Link for those who want to sign it. I think it's a good idea and he more than deserves the honour.

It'll probably go down like a sinking ship on here, but you can only try.

I doubt there's anyone on here that wouldn't love it. The problem is that we can only name two stands at the OS (I think!). So who do we dishonour - Bobby Moore or Sir Trev?

Gavros 8:51 Thu Jan 7
Re: Billy Bonds Stand
Isn't going to happen. West Ham have the right to name the ends in the contract and we know why they are. They have no ability to rename anything else.

Re: Billy Bonds Stand
I'd have Billy over Bob... *tin hat*

Buster 8:57 Thu Jan 7
Re: Billy Bonds Stand
I'd have had Billy before Sir Trev personally, but I'm sure they'll name an ICONIC floodlight after him or something.

Ricky Bobby 8:58 Thu Jan 7
Re: Billy Bonds Stand
If we only have naming rights to 2 of 4 stands then Bobby or Sir Trevor may be in trouble when the Qatari Royal Family stump up and buy us...

Re: Billy Bonds Stand
I'd have Bonzo before anyone.
There Will never ever be another like him.
Having a stand named after him is the least the club should do.
It's a disgrace it hasn't been done already

Re: Billy Bonds Stand
As Gavvy & OTB said, we can't name the East and West Stands as they will named for commercial purposes.

So sadly this is a non-starter, however I'm sure something will be named after him.

No one comes anywhere near this true West Ham icon.

Re: Billy Bonds Stand
As has been said, not our call, petition the stadium owners, no point expecting the club to do anything as we have no say.

We won't benefit massively from the commercial revenue either.

Hold up.

WE can name the stand. Fuck the official stance.

"We won't benefit massively from the commercial revenue either."

So what percentage do we get from any commercial deal to name the ground/stand and how does that compare to what we make from the sponsorship of the West Stand?

Johnson 5:41 Fri Jan 8
Re: Billy Bonds Stand
We've given up virtually all of it according to Sullivan.

So if a deal is £100m over ten years, £10m a year, if you say virtually all is £8m, that's £2m a year.

Not much is it?

makes you wonder why all these other teams are kicking up such a fuss

Re: Billy Bonds Stand
According to you, DRUID JOHNSON MY LOVE, it seems that we won't be making much revenue at all from this move... So, I ask you:

a) Why are we bothering with this move then if we'll hardly make any more money than we do now?

b) As you clearly seem to think that we're surrendering pretty much all of the revenue income streams; how have you come to this conclusion?

PS - we'll make into the tens of millions of pounds worth of revenue increase from what we make currently which is precisley why we're making the move as there'd practically be no point in doing so otherwise.

Johnson 10:32 Fri Jan 8
Re: Billy Bonds Stand
A) I don't know dicksie.

B) Why do you think this is something I've made up in my head? Read direct quotes from our chairman Sullivan, read the contract, read the estimates that we'll jump all of two places in the revenue stakes.

And to clarify, I've said I don't think we'll be making much more than now, not much at all.

Johnson 10:35 Fri Jan 8
Re: Billy Bonds Stand
Oh and who's kicking up a fuss EggBERK.

The Ys just wanted it for themselves, heard nowt from Chelsea, Arsenal or any other Permierleague club.

Other than fans crying it is state aid, the merits of which are there to argue, only CHARLTON ATHLETIC who seem to be on their last legs anyway are formally doing something.

You can always correct me with C&P of formal complaints from all the other clubs.

Re: Billy Bonds Stand
We'll be making into the tens of millions of pounds more in revenue, DRUID JOHNSON SON, as various Economists/sources have specified... I don't know why you find this hard to fathom?!... Do you really think that we'd bother moving ground to just make a couple of million more per year, if that?!... You're brighter than this, DRUID JOHNSON SON...

I think that jumping two places up the revenue table to 7th spot is a big deal, DRUID JOHNSON SON, considering the team's above us in the list are far more established/successful...

We'll move further up the list if we become successful and win trophies as well - and play in Europe every year...
